Neuroscience is a really exciting grown area on the African continent, and we are privilege to work with pioneers in this area: the Neuroscience Institute (NI) at the University of Cape Town. Through the NI, Flametree Fundraising is able to work with a range of extraordinary neuroscientists and clinicians to boost their research capability. The NI programme of work has an impact across the African continent and the Global South through an global network of partners and donors.
Human-centered conservation is a key impact area for Flametree Fundraising. Conservation fundraising is highly competitive, given the small pool of funding available, so we focus on giving our clients a broad understanding of the funding landscape, and supporting excellent, high impact project design. We also prioritise building strong relationships with key funders. Climate change intersects with conservation, but also stands alone as a highly-fundable area of work in which we have extensive experience.
Public health is a critical area of concern for African Universities and civil society organisations, and a strategic impact area for Flametree Fundraising. We have partnered with researchers to develop Masters-level curriculum to support public health fundraising, focused on environmental health. We also work closely with surgeons and anesthetists working across Groote Schuur Hospital, the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital, and the University of Cape Town to make advances in access and quality of essential surgeries on the continent. We work creatively to build capacity in this area.
Flametree Fundraising is invested in unlocking the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the African continent, through strategic fundraising and best practice science communication and strategy development. AI has the potential to catalyze potential in many of the areas in which we work, and is an accelerator of social development and innovation on the African continent. Our role is to support passionate, ethical researchers, computer scientists, and software engineers on the African continent to unlock the funds and partnerships that will amplify the societal impact of their work.
